Male sprinters abounded, but it was mostly TM Humphrey Waddington, home from Uni.,who rather baled the team out on a busy evening at St Mary's. We closed 2nd equal with Walton, and behind leaders,SMR. In the Womens match,we were feeble(even rivalling the SML for feebleness),with SMR swamping a mini-handfull from the other clubs. There will have to be a substantial extraction of the vernaculars if the Girls do not want to relinquish their hold on their Rosenheim Plate at the last match at Kingston on July 23rd.
Men - SMR 46/K&P & Walton 37 each/BA 23/E&E 17. Women - SMR 53/K&P 9/Walton 8/BA 5. Overall - Men - SMR 25/K&P 17.5/Walton 12.5/E&E 11/BA 9(with 1 match to go July 23rd at Kingston and 3 to qualify for the Final).Overall - Women - K&P 22/SMR 21.5/E&E 11.5/Walton 11/BA 3.

Adam Bellis(11.4/23.0),Jason Bernard(11.5) and Draco Mkpa(11.7/23.9),Chris Hall(22.8) & Justin Green(22.5) had good sprint workouts on a pleasant evening, culminating in a speedy 1.31.3 4 x 200(with Humphrey Waddington).Graham Poskitt(59.0) made a welcome return to competition over 400,after a decade or more, and should improve quickly under Richard Holt's tutelage(as do many).Ron Taylor, now limited to midweek races by his work schedule, gave a glimpse of his old form with 4.30.0 over 1500,but,apart from another 12m plus effort from leading U17 TJ Patrick Hillyer,it was our (recent) CUAC President who took on the burden of HJ/HT/DT and 800,and ensured we stayed on course for the Final and retention of the main Rosenheim Plate.
The least said the better about the Women, who were highly conspicuous by their absence, with only 4 in action. Thanks to the even greater paucity of the other clubs(SMR excepted),we have managed to go into the last fixture with a narrow lead. Liz Davidson winning the Triple & Sasha Gordon taking 2nd in the Shot, ousting her mum from the K&P Top Ten,were our sole scoring exponents.
